CDMX has issued a yellow alert for cold in several municipalities, as intense frost and minimum temperatures are expected across the country due to cold front 25.

This Monday, January 27, it is expected that cold front number 25 will affect several states in Mexico with low temperatures. In Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla, Oaxaca, and Chiapas, temperatures are forecasted to range between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, in Mexico City, a yellow alert has been issued for cold in the municipalities of Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, and Tlalpan. A very cold environment and gusty winds are expected, with the possibility of snow or sleet falling in the mountains of Baja California.

The regions most affected by cold front 25 will experience minimum temperatures of up to -10 degrees Celsius. It is expected that the mountainous areas of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, and Durango will register temperatures from -10 to -5 degrees; while Baja California Sur, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, among others, will have temperatures from -5 to 0 degrees.

Meanwhile, in Querétaro, Veracruz, and Oaxaca, temperatures are expected to range from 0 to 5 degrees. In the sierra of Juárez and San Pedro Mártir in Baja California, the presence of snow, sleet, or freezing rain is likely. The authorities of CDMX have issued recommendations to protect oneself from the cold, such as wearing warm clothing, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and consuming foods rich in vitamins.

During this cold season, unfortunately, seven people have died nationwide due to low temperatures. Therefore, it is important to take precautions. Additionally, rain is forecasted in several states of the country, and warm days are expected in at least 15 entities. On the other hand, cold weather will continue in various regions until Thursday, January 30. The interaction of cold front 25 with other atmospheric conditions will cause intense frosts and warm winds, primarily in mountainous areas of the country.
